Meet Dr. Kendria!

She loves spending time with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, and soaking up the joy that comes from laughter—especially the laughter of children.

Smart Start Pediatrics is thrilled to welcome Dr. Kendria Ward, a compassionate and highly experienced pediatrician who brings more than 20 years of dedication to children’s health and wellness to our practice!

Dr. Ward grew up in the Mississippi Delta, where her heart for community and service first took root. She earned her undergraduate degree from Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, Mississippi, and went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine from SUNY in Syracuse, New York. She completed both her Internship and Residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children in Falls Church, Virginia, one of the nation’s leading pediatric training centers.

She is Board Certified in Pediatrics, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a proud member of the Alabama Chapter of the AAP. Families consistently share that what they value most about Dr. Ward is how genuinely she cares about each child’s health, happiness, and overall well-being.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Ward is a proud mom to her energetic 4-year-old son, Kagezi. She loves spending time with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, and soaking up the joy that comes from laughter—especially the laughter of children. She also gives back through volunteering at community health fairs and outreach events. Above all, she treasures her sense of peace and finds it impossible to imagine life without it.
